Regardless of the CBD oil strength you choose, the key is to administer a maximum of 1 mg of CBD oil per kilogram of body weight. Therefore, a 15 kg dog should receive a maximum of 15 mg of CBD daily. According to literature, up to 2 mg per kg may be used if necessary. If your pet has never had CBD before, regardless of their weight (5 kg or 50 kg), start with only 1-2 mg of CBD for the first few occasions. This is important to see how your pet reacts to a small amount of CBD oil, as even small doses can be effective in certain cases and prevent the need for larger doses. If you don’t notice any changes, you can gradually increase the daily dosage. For example, if your 15 kg dog finds 5 mg of CBD effective for joint pain, there’s no need to give the maximum allowable CBD dose. It’s also possible that this amount may be adequate for a 35 kg animal. Therefore, it’s best to start with a small dose and monitor your pet’s reaction.
